2011-01-14 ANTARCTICA, The Lemaire Channel

In perfect weather conditions we sailed gently through the icepack through the scenic Lemaire Channel between Booth Island and the mainland. We congregated at the bow on the 7th deck and enjoyed spectacular views.

As we reached the narrowest part of the channel the sun was directly in front of us lighting up the whole area and out of its brilliance sailed the Sea Spirit which tooted its modest horn! We responded with 3 loud blasts of our own as we passed each other, with much cheering from those on the deck!
